Butte County, NW South Dakota at Local Burn Ban

Butte County imposed a local burn ban to prohibit or restrict open burning in order to protect the public health and safety; and prohibit activities that include open fires, and any other activity which could be reasonably calculated to lead to the ignition and/or spread of wildfires within the county. This includes the entire area of Butte County except for lands falling within the boundaries of any commercial, state, or federal campgrounds. Fires will be allowed in designated fire pits/places only. Such fires and barbeque grills will be attended at all times.

Open flame/burning will not be allowed at any time, except with fire department supervision. Contact the fire department for more information and scheduling.
